...and so it begins

I know I told you in the previous post that Brooke went to a pumpkin patch birthday party this weekend.

We love, love, love Halloween in our house, and she picked the perfect pumpkin and asked if she could carve it right away.

Plus, she and Kennedy both wanted to start decorating, but I said we needed to wait for the next weekend.

And no carving pumpkins yet, or they will be moldy well before Halloween.

So, in the meantime, we have one new addition to our decor from Target, plus a styrofoam skull I found in the costume bin...

...and instead of carving, she painted! She painted her pumpkin to be a dog. I couldn't love it more!!!

What a day!

First of all, I left the house at 7:20 a.m.

I took the girls to school. We laughed and laughed along the way because we were listening to Snack Time...a CD by the Bare Naked Ladies. Thank you, Steve and Tracy!

I went to work, I did not surface from a flurry of meetings and changes to the budget that resulted from the meetings until 3 p.m. And I still did not leave work until after 6 p.m. Then off to school for a parent's club meeting. After helping to clean up, I finally rolled back into my house after 9 p.m.

Only to find...children in bed, and pumpkins in the kitchen...in the process of being carved!

And one other exciting development...the hole in Brooke's mouth got bigger! She twisted her bottom tooth right out sometime today during school. This was a goal for her...she wanted to lose her tooth at school so the nurse would give her a teeny tiny treasure chest to keep it in. Score!

Really, how cute is that smile??????

So, after these discoveries, I leave the door to the scrapbook room open for about three minutes.

I hear a noise.

I walk out to find...pink carpet. From a stamp pad. And I really liked this stamp pad. I use a lot of pink, you know, because I have girls.

Naughty puppy strikes again...

So, as I am scrubbing the pink carpet I hear Kennedy get out of her bed. "There's a black bug crawling on my wall!" Yes, indeed there was. A big ugly spider that JUMPED when I tried to smush it. I didn't find it. Kennedy may or may not be sleeping with it right now.

August is cleaning up pumpkin goo. It's late. Now I suppose I will go to bed. Goodbye Wednesday!

Halloween fervor

This is Halloween...this is Halloween...
I love the pumpkins that Kennedy created this year. Just thought I'd share them again in case this picture didn't jump out at you from the Shutterfly website. How clever these are! She is giving the spider to her math/science teacher, Mr. Marcus, and the witch to her homeroom/ English/ history teacher, Ms. Eaton {and the witch is NOT a symbol to represent her feelings for her teacher...she likes her teacher very much!}

We had a busy Halloween weekend. We started with a party at the school on Friday night - the Monster Mash. It was quite a success, and many parents worked very hard to make it a night to remember. Some of us were there until almost 11 p.m. cleaning up! Saturday, Brooke had a girl scout event all morning (learning to tie knots, cook on a fire, etc - all the handy things a little girl should know).

Saturday night was another Halloween party for Kennedy at her friend's house! Tina was very brave hosting a house full of 6th graders! Fun was had by all.

Sunday...we made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch, this time with the Zavolta family. Somehow I managed to lose half my pictures from this day.
Shoot.

That evening, we went to a neighborhood party for ANOTHER Halloween event!

Check out my friend, Suzanne's, cinnamon roll Princess Lea buns on the side of her head. Cracked. Me. Up.

Also, and this is big news, August and I went on a date on Saturday night! As in just the two of us for almost four hours! We even ventured "over the hill" to Hollywood. We felt very cutting edge (I mean, old).

What a wonderful weekend...
